He creates a lot of wear and tear, in general.

He's not aware there's a silence. He's too intent, too drawn to Khan, to all the things he's seeing mirrored in himself.

"Should I contact Betazoid before my shift tomorrow, Captain?"

He wants permission to do so.

"Is it that time already? ...Yes. I don't want any interruptions when I have you."

He's pleased, and surprised, that Khan even asked.

"Of course."

He agrees, inclining his head.

He should rest, in that case.

"I'll see you then."

Kirk nods, standing and heading out.

Khan curls up, and has the deepest, longest sleep he's had in a decade.

He'll remember to eat in the morning.
